Hyderabad, Telangana: In a significant step toward strengthening international cooperation and fostering economic growth, the Government of Telangana and the German State of Thuringia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in technology, skill development, startups, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The MoU was signed during a high-level meeting between Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Thuringia Minister-President Mario Voigt. The event was attended by Telangana Ministers D. Sridhar Babu and Vivek Venkataswamy, along with senior officials and industry representatives from both regions.

Strengthening India-Germany Partnership

Describing Telangana as a leading center of progress and innovation in India, Minister-President Mario Voigt praised the state’s remarkable economic growth and highlighted its important role in strengthening India-Germany relations. He expressed Thuringia’s commitment to building mutually beneficial partnerships across multiple sectors.

“Telangana’s growth story occupies a special place in the evolving India-Germany partnership. We look forward to creating new opportunities for both regions through collaboration,” Voigt said.

Focus on Future-Ready Skills

During the discussions, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized the urgent need to redesign skill development programs to align with the demands of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI). He stressed that training initiatives should cater to workforce requirements in advanced economies such as Germany, Japan, and South Korea.

The Chief Minister sought Thuringia’s support in modernizing the curricula of Young India Skills University (YISU), Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), and Polytechnic Institutes across Telangana.

Responding positively, Minister-President Voigt proposed developing industry-oriented and demand-driven skilling programs through collaboration between Telangana and Thuringia’s academic institutions and industries.

Proposal for German Language Training Hub

Highlighting Telangana’s contribution to the global technology ecosystem, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy noted that many global technology leaders trace their roots to Hyderabad. He observed that the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence requires a transformative approach to education and workforce development.

To strengthen global employability, the Chief Minister proposed the establishment of a German Language Training Hub in Hyderabad with support from the State of Thuringia. The initiative aims to equip Telangana’s youth with language skills and industry-specific training required by German employers.

He suggested that German industries could help identify future workforce requirements while Young India Skills University develops specialized training programs to meet those demands.

Bharat Future City Vision Presented

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also presented his vision for Bharat Future City, a world-class destination for investment, innovation, and emerging technologies. The project aims to attract Fortune 500 companies and position Telangana as a global hub for advanced industries.

Highlighting Hyderabad’s robust infrastructure and business-friendly ecosystem, he recalled the successful hosting of participants from over 100 countries during Miss World 2025, demonstrating the city’s global appeal and organizational capabilities.

“We are ready to partner with Thuringia and look forward to expanding collaboration in skill development, technology, innovation, and investment opportunities,” the Chief Minister stated.

Semiconductor Collaboration on the Horizon

Minister-President Mario Voigt proposed organizing a specialized delegation of German semiconductor companies to visit Telangana and explore investment opportunities. The initiative is expected to facilitate industry-to-industry partnerships and strengthen semiconductor cooperation.

Welcoming the proposal, Minister D. Sridhar Babu highlighted Hyderabad’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and the state’s efforts to establish semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.

Minister Vivek Venkataswamy informed the delegation about the achievements of the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) in German language training and overseas workforce development. He also invited the delegation to explore the Advanced Technology Centres being developed across Telangana.

High-Level Participation

The meeting witnessed participation from senior representatives of Thuringia, including State Secretaries Prof. Dr. Steffen Teichert and Mr. Suckert, as well as Michael Hasper from the German Embassy in India.

Business leaders representing sectors such as optics, photonics, precision engineering, life sciences, medical technology, defense, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing also attended the discussions.

Senior Telangana officials present at the meeting included Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister B. Ajith Reddy, TGIIC Managing Director K. Shashanka, and other senior government representatives.

A New Chapter in Global Cooperation

The Telangana-Thuringia partnership marks a major milestone in international collaboration, opening new opportunities in technology, innovation, skill development, investment, and advanced manufacturing. The agreement is expected to strengthen economic ties between India and Germany while creating employment and growth opportunities for future generations.
